Vroom’s Facebook Car Reposter & Message Responder – Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
This Chrome extension is a tool for a car dealership. It reads the dealership’s own inventory from the dealership’s website, fills in Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji listing forms for the person using it, keeps those ads in step with the website, and drafts replies to buyers’ messages. It runs entirely in the person’s own browser, on the person’s own accounts. It has no server of its own, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising.
What the extension reads
- The dealership’s website (vroommotors.ca by default, or another dealer website the person chooses): vehicle pages, descriptions, prices, kilometres, the CARFAX link the page shows, and the vehicles’ photos (served from
prod.pictures.autoscout24.net). Between syncs it asks the website for its current list of vehicles every couple of minutes so that new, sold and repriced cars are picked up. This can be switched off in Settings.
- Listing forms on facebook.com and kijiji.ca, in order to fill them in. It never presses Publish or Post on a new ad; the person does.
- The person’s own “Your listings” page on Facebook Marketplace: the titles, prices, status and ids of the person’s own ads, to know which cars are already listed and which ads show an old price or a car that has sold. Only when the person turns those switches on does it press Update on an ad whose price changed on the website, or Mark as sold on an ad for a car that has left the website.
- A buyer’s conversation on the page the person has open (including Messenger chat pop-ups on facebook.com), only when the person presses “Write a reply”. This can include the buyer’s name and messages.
- The Marketplace inbox, only if the person turns on message checking in Settings (it is off by default): every few minutes it looks for buyer messages that have not been answered and shows a browser notification.
What is stored, and where
Everything is stored locally, in the person’s own browser (Chrome extension storage): the synced inventory and its photos, the person’s settings (including the dealership’s address and phone number, the website address and, if entered, the person’s Anthropic API key), a record of which vehicles have been posted and the ids of the person’s Facebook ads, a log of the extension’s recent actions, drafted replies, research notes about vehicle models (kept for 45 days), and whether a plan is active. Nothing is stored on any server operated by the extension’s author. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it.
What is sent, and to whom
- To Facebook and Kijiji: the listing details and photos the person chooses to post, typed into those sites’ own forms in the person’s own logged-in session; and, when the person has turned the switches on, the price change or “sold” status on the person’s own existing ads.
- To Anthropic (api.anthropic.com), using the person’s own API key, which the person enters in Settings and which is stored only in the browser:
- when the person presses “Write a reply”: the conversation open on the page, the details of the matched vehicle and the dealership’s contact details, so that a reply can be drafted;
- when the extension looks a vehicle model up (“Know the car”, on by default, the first time a buyer asks about that model, or when the person asks): the vehicle’s year, make, model and trim, so that Anthropic can search the web for reliability, winter-readiness and similar notes about that model. No buyer information is sent for this.
Nothing is sent to Anthropic if no API key has been entered. Anthropic’s handling of that data is governed by Anthropic’s privacy policy. If the person turns on “answer easy ones by itself” (off by default), a drafted reply that the extension is confident about is sent to the buyer on Facebook without the person pressing Send; otherwise every reply is reviewed and sent by the person.
- To ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com): an anonymous installation key, to check whether a plan or trial is active. Payment, and the email address used for it, are handled on ExtensionPay’s own pages and its payment processor; the extension never sees card details.
No data is sent anywhere else.
What is not collected
The extension does not collect browsing history, location, health or financial information, and does not monitor the person’s activity. It reads web pages only on the sites listed above — the dealership website the person chose, facebook.com and kijiji.ca — and only for the purposes described above.
Sharing and sale of data
User data is not sold, and is not transferred to any third party other than the services named above, each for the sole purpose described above. It is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending, and it is not used for any purpose unrelated to the extension’s single purpose: listing the dealership’s own cars and answering the buyers who ask about them.
Your control
Every automatic behaviour has a switch in Settings: the website check between syncs, changing prices on Facebook ads, marking sold cars’ ads sold, looking models up, checking the inbox, and answering by itself. The API key can be cleared in Settings at any time. “Clear” on the Recent tab removes the action log. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
Changes to this policy
If what the extension reads, stores or sends changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed.
